Tree Works in a Conservation Area
Anyone proposing to carry out any works to a tree situated within a conservation area, is required to give six weeks written notice to the Planning Authority at Newark and Sherwood District Council. There is no statutory requirement to publicise the receipt of such notices and the Authority does not publicise such applications on a discretionary basis. Furthermore, there is no requirement for the Authority to consult on such notices.
The Authority is required to keep a register of the decisions (work approved) and this can be found on the Newark and Sherwood District Council website
In considering such notifications the Council has six weeks in which to either:
- Indicate in writing that it has no objection to the works or;
- Make a tree preservation order
If no response is received within six weeks the applicant/owner may proceed with the works. The Parish Council is notified of these decisions and notes them on both meeting Agenda and Minutes. A map of Collingham Conservation area can be found here.
